On Saturday (April 4th) in Provadia was held а tour for bird watching, dedicated to the feast of the city and to the Egyptian vulture.  The event was attended by 20 people, including students from several schools - "Hristo Smirnenski", "Ivan Vazov" and the high school "Dimitar Blagoev".

The route of the tour started from the center of the city - from the municipality of Provadia, the Ovech Fortress, the Rock Monastery in Shashkunite locality, where was the old nest of the Egyptian vultures. Among the observed birds were Raven, Common Buzzard, Lesser spotted eagle, Field-lark, Starling, Great tit and many others. The tour guide was Mecnun Ademov - a teacher in the Professional School for Agriculture “Earth” in Provadia, member of BSPB and contributor of the LIFE+ project “The Return of the Neophron”.

Near the city nests is one of the last breeding pairs of Egyptian vultures in Bulgaria. In the nest inhabited by vultures the project team for the fourth consecutive year put a camera in order to provide valuable information on the behavior of this globally threatened species. We hope the family will choose the same nesting niche and will have the opportunity to observe them in real time on the project website www.LifeNeophron.eu.
